Happy Tuesday! I'm so busy this week I'm stressed already and I haven't even got started yet... Work, card orders, back to school sorting out and my first job interview for 6 years.... scary!
Looking forward to a peaceful week next week :)

On the Move

My sister kindly let me and my mum tag along on her flat-hunting expedition to Bristol yesterday - she found a gorgeous flat in Clifton and we want to move in too..
We had lunch at the Arch House Deli (website here) which was yummy!

If you know someone on the move, how about these New Address cards... (set of 8 here)

Or a New Home card here!

Tim Minchin...

I love Tim Minchin, and not just because he's from Perth.

He's written the music for the stage production of Matilda at the RSC in Stratford upon Avon, which I really need to book our tickets for!

(And this one will make you cry...)

The Regal

Photo from The Regal website

We went to see Shrek 4 (or whatever the real title is?) on Sunday- at the Regal cinema in Evesham.
The Regal is a beautiful Art Deco building that had been derelict for 8 years - renovation work began last year and the Regal is once again showing films.
The Regal has many fond memories for me - it was the first cinema I ever went to, the first cinema I went to on my own with friends (Beethoven..), where I saw my first 18 certificate film (Interview with the Vampire). We also used to go to the Regal with primary school every Christmas to watch such classics as Herbie and Robin Hood with Keith Chegwin! (same selection every year...)
The Regal website is worth a look - it has loads of photos of the original features that are being restored as well as film and event listings, progress reports and opportunities to help out and support the project.

Rainy walk

We went for a rainy walk around the village in Oxfordshire where my mum lived when she was little - a picnic in the woods, wishing on the wishing stone, developing our poo identification skills(elephant??) and finishing off with an ice cream at the pub.

The Arts Hut

My cards are now stocked in a gorgeous little gallery called the Arts Hut, in Herstmonceux, Sussex.
The Arts Hut is owned and run by artist Anna Wilson-Patterson - this is one of her 'Hound' monoprints - have a look at her website to see more of her lovely work.

'Thanks for your cards which I received this morning and are out on display, they look great.'

Mini Mosaics

This is a project we did last week - Mini Mosaics

We used:
PVA glue
MDF boards (you could use pieces of wood or old tiles)
Glass mosaic tiles
Ceramic mosaic tiles
Glass millifiori
Tile grout

With kids it's best not to cut the tiles, but use them whole instead to avoid any really sharp edges. I was lucky because we have a huge bag of ceramic tiles that have been in my dad's shed since the 70's - they're very retro... Also we used normal square glass tiles and some millifiori that I bought on ebay.

First step, get sticking those tiles on - random patterns work fine!
Leave until the glue is completely dry

Then grout - you could colour the grout with acylic paint for a more colourful finish.

Give your mosaics a polish and use them as trivets or add a hanger to the back to hang them on the wall.
