I love out of season British seaside towns - Ilfracombe is a little bit run down, and its arts centre does look like a power station - but on a wintry evening with big waves crashing over the sea wall it looks pretty good!
We had a nice holiday once near Ilfracombe - Coombe Martin I think - I thought it was quite nice - I remember the sculpture park in the woods nearby and the Tunnel beaches.
We had a great day out in ilfracombe last October. It was good but you are right it is looking very run down form what we remembered, the tunnels were fab but very cold and windy
