The Tanks

Also whilst in London we popped into Tate Modern to escape a sudden downpour and discovered The Tanks, their new exhibition space.
The oil tanks of the former power station have been developed into a very atmospheric underground network of concrete rooms - very dark and strange down there!

The boys loved drawing on acetate and projecting their pictures onto the concrete walls - such a cool idea!

A day in the city..

I'm beginning to think we're not cut out for village life - we spent yesterday in London and it was so exciting - especially to see it through the boys' eyes - something new and surprising around each corner.
But maybe if you live somewhere exciting it becomes less exciting and you stop being surprised?
A case of the grass is always greener maybe?

Who knew you could hand feed squirrels??

Staying calm...

Stressful times in the Moody house... our house sale isn't quite going to plan - I won't bore you with the details but it involves a dishonest buyer and a complacent estate agent - we are trying not to PANIC!!!
We'd hoped to be out before the boys started back at school, which obviously isn't going to happen now..
Oh - and did I mention the fact that our estate agent has gone on holiday today??!

Thinking calm thoughts....

Party Animals

The boys have gone south for a couple of days with my parents - I have to say I've been enjoying the peace and quiet!
These are a few new designs for my portfolio - I'm calling the range 'Party Animals'!

August Break 12 - Making Day

We had a creative day today - the boys made some lovely mosaic coasters (and I only interfered a little bit...) and I sewed a bag out of some fabric I block-printed a couple of weeks ago.
I feel a lot better now - it's been a while since I made anything for fun!

Honeybuns!

I was very lucky and won a competition from Honeybuns - a bakery  that specialises in gluten, wheat and dairy free baking - the cakes were delish... Wish I hadn't scoffed them so quickly- might have to buy some more...

We're carless today and I can't believe it's only 11am.. I've introduced a star chart for the day and already set them to work tidying the living room and washing their bikes - what next?

August Break 5

I just noticed that yesterday was my third blogiversary!
I had a look back over the last three whole years (!) of posts and it seems we normally go to the beach around now - Bantham in South Devon (2009), Charmouth (2010), Weston Super Mare (2011)
Today however, we broke with tradition and went to the Forest of Dean - which was a lot like a rainforest today..
I'm thinking I might have a little giveaway to celebrate three years of blogging- will let you know more next week!

August Break 4

Since Molly has a bad leg (I still think she's putting it on..) I dragged myself on a walk yesterday...

August Break 2

The Australian /GB Olympic rivalry in our house has led to us recruiting children to our causes... Unfortunately for me they have both decided they are 'more' Australian than British..

Don't think they've looked at the medal table recently - wahey!
