Titchy Boats

In between trips to the tip this weekend, I started making these little boats - they're pretty titchy, biggest one is 20cm long, and made from the off-cuts from my bigger boats (very efficient there!) I'm going to put them in the shop this week some time...

All change

Two months tomorrow and we're off to Western Australia - love this print above from Printdolls, a design duo based in Avalon, New South Wales.

Diarmuid

Just posted this boat off to Scotland - hope I spelt the name right!

Beside the seaside (I wish..)

Just saw this painting in the window of Broadway Modern, my favourite local gallery. I have to be happy with looking through the windows these days because two year olds are notorious for their 'hands on' approach to art...

They're both by Peter Heard, you can read all about him here, and have a look at some of his other work.

There's something about a really deep sky blue that always cheers me up - here's a bit to get us through a week promising to be a bit greyer...

Rosalie and Truffle

I spotted Rosalie and Truffle in the toyshop yesterday while we were spending some tooth fairy money.. They are so cute - the book is told from both their points of view and is about love at first sight and being true to yourself. I love Truffle's little tusks!

Gilda

I received this lovely email last week:

'I'm delighted I found your website. I have a dear friend Gilda who has a beach hut a few away from mine. We swim together in the sea in the summer. She is 90 at the beginning of April. (I'm a lot younger) I'm arranging her birthday "tea" and wanted to find a beach hut which could go on the table - to have a personal one will be great and I know she will love it.'

'Thanks for the beach hut. It arrived safely yesterday. I am delighted with it and also with the cards. Many thanks.'

Molly Mouse

I used to love the paper dolls that came on the back page of Twinkle magazine (showing my age there...) This is my version - Molly Mouse - she's very cute and comes with lots of very trendy outfits - you can buy a PDF version here in my shop - but only until Sunday when the listing expires - a great rainy day activity for any little (or big) girl!

World Book Day

It's World Book Day today, so I thought I'd share our current Top Five Books!

Number 1 - one of my all-time favourites, Richard Scarry's Busy, Busy World - loads of action packed illustrations, and it's educational too!

Number 2 - Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's Tabby McTat. Great to read aloud and lovely detailed illustrations.

Number 3 - Fix-it Duck (closely followed by Duck in a Truck, Captain Duck and Super Duck..)

Number 3 - Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers - a popular choice for bed-time! Click on the pic to check out the great animation too..

Number 5 - Flat Stanley - one of my favourite books when I was little, so I grabbed the new edition when I saw it in Waterstones - my boys love it as much as I did.

Exciting delivery!

I designed some new baby cards for The Art Group last year - and the samples arrived this morning - I really like them! They'll be on sale in WHSmiths soon...
