Go Sprout

Ten years ago right about now, I went to New York for a couple of months to work for an amazing charity called Sprout

Based in New York city they provide opportunities for NY residents with learning disabilities to go on holiday, make films, socialise and generally have fun.
I had an email from Sprout recently to say they need leaders for this summer - if you, or anyone you know, would enjoy a summer in New York, working with some amazing people and really making a difference to someone's life - have a look here for details.
I'd go if I could!

(I'm in the middle at the back - I haven't got many photos as I dropped my camera down some stairs in NY...)

And please watch this amazing film - it will make you think about your own life in a new light.....

Playing the Moldovans ...

Moldovan Movie

I went to see 'Playing the Moldovans at Tennis' at the Evesham Regal this afternoon - it's the true story of Tony Hawks' mission to beat each member of the Moldovan football team at tennis.
It sounds a bit odd.. but it's actually quite a funny and touching film - and all the proceeds go towards Tony Hawks' Moldovan children's charity - see all about the project here

Midsummer

Summer?
Words fail me..

Glum...

I'm feeling incredibly grumpy today- a combination of hay fever, rain and the stress of our (hopefully) imminent move... There's lots of sorting out of cupboards to do but I'm finding it easier to put it off than get stuck in..
Still- off for a swim in a little while - hopefully should cheer me up slightly!

No 20 and No 3

My parents' house is 100 years old this year, and we're moving from our house in a couple of weeks, so I decided to immortalise them in fabric!

Britain in a Day

If, like me, you're trawling the internet for something entertaining to look at on a rainy Saturday afternoon (because your children have taken possession of the remote control...) - let me recommend Britain in a Day - available here on the iplayer.
It's a feel good view of Britain filmed by members of the public on the 12th November last year. I liked it because as a nation we are determined to always dwell on the worst side of our society - this film shows a diverse range of Brits, all enjoying life here on our small, rainy..... island.

Clean cupboard

A tidy cupboard.....

And because that's really boring here are our neighbourhood starlings waiting for breakfast -

Pine tree collages

These two look strangely Christmassy to me?
I think it's the pine trees.

I am now going to clean out my cupboard - when I open the door piles of paper fall on my head so it's really got to be done.
I will show you photos of a tidy cupboard tomorrow! (Got to do it now..)

I bought a job lot of old postcards on ebay and I've been having fun playing around with them -

I'm going to have them printed as postcards and sell them in mixed packs - I haven't made anything just to sell for a long time and I miss it!

I just popped out to get some milk and the circus is in town! Caravans lined up all down the high street - so exciting!

The very long weekend.........

A little bit of Jubilee-ing... (this isn't my bunting by the way!)

A lot of bike-riding (mostly in the rain)...

 And a number five birthday!

Jubilee Madness

I feel a bit left out as my house is devoid of union jack bunting... might see if I can pick some up tomorrow (although it will probably be a lot cheaper next week..)

Some of the best Jubilee marketing ideas I've seen are:

'50's style Cadbury's Dairy Milk

Red , white and blue Mr Kipling's French  British Fancies (scoffed a few of these over the past couple of weeks!)

Kellogg's: unveils Jubilee-themed cereal boxes

And I love Kellogg's vintage style cereal boxes

Happy Jubilee Weekend everyone!
